Belgium gives the OK to online gambling
Belgium is one of the newest entrants to the online gambling industry. The Belgium Gaming Commission named three online poker sites that will allow players to wager with real money. The gaming laws of Belgium still ban several gaming and betting services, but the latest poker news online suggests that the new licensing system allows exceptions and hence the three online poker sites have been able to squeeze their way through the legalities and gain the approval of the government.
The Gaming Commission has states however, that it will block all access to unauthorized domains to ensure that Belgian players use only authorized online gambling services. According to the 2011 Gaming Ac, operators from EU member states would have to relocate their servers to Belgium if they wanted to obtain a license. Hence only the online gambling sites operating within Belgium would be authorized to offer their services to players located in Belgium.
The approval of the three poker sites is good news of the gambling enthusiast in the country. Belgium is one of the three EU countries, along with Denmark and Spain, that will be busy regulating its new online gambling industry in the year 2012.
Spain, has however delayed implementing its online gambling reforms by six months in order to give regulators more time to review the license applications. It looks like online gamblers in Spain will have to wait at least till June to see some online gambling action.
